Senior Research Technician
We have an openting for a Senior Research Technician to join Dr. Tung-Tien Sun`s laboratory in the Department of Cell Biolog at New York University School of Medicine to study bladder epithelial membrane specialization, which plays important roles in urinary tract infection and the painful bladder syndrome. We prefer applicants with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or chemistry, with at least three years of post-graduate full-time laboratory research experience. Familiarity with the following standard cell and molecular biological techniques is helpful but not required: cell culture and transfection techniques; cloning, expression and characterization of proteins using E. coli expression systems; nucleic acid techniques including Northern/Southern blotting, primer design, PCR and genotyping; protein and immunological techniques including SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, affinity purification, immunofluoresent or immunohistochemical staining of cultured cells and paraffin sections; photomicroscopy; DNA and protein alignment programs; and mouse breeding.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Conduct experiments using the above-mentioned techniques
• Maintain mouse breeding colonies
• Maintain lab stocks of antibodies, plasmids and other reagents
• Order and maintain lab supplies
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor`s Degree in Biochemistry or Molecular and Cell Biology
• Three or more years of post-graduate full-time research experience required
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and be self motivated
• Strong organizational and communication skills
